TENNENT’S ANNOUNCE T BREAK BANDS
Tennent’s are thrilled to announce the bands that will be taking to the T Break Stage for T in the Park’s celebratory 20th year across the 12-14th July.
T Break’s panel of expert judges have listened to each and every demo submitted by acts from all over the country, in the search for Scotland’s freshest unsigned talent. As always the standard of entries has been outstanding and we would like to thank everyone who took part this year. Reaching a final decision is never easy, especially with the wide range of genres and the sheer volume of talent on offer this year but, a decision has been made.

Arches
Arches are a 5 piece rock band based in Glasgow - made up of the vocal talents of Michael Rice, guitarist Barry Morrell, drummer Niall McGarvie, guitarist David Johnston and bassist Andrew Johnston. 'Turn It Up' and 'Like Fireworks' aired on Kerrang! Radio.
Blindfolds
Glasgow-based Blindfolds formed in late 2011 and are made up of John Gerard O’Neill, Joshua Campbell, Stuart Ivens and Conor Jack. To date they have fulfilled headline slots at Glasgow’s Art School, Broadcast & King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. Blindfolds cross between Cramps reminiscent riffs & authoritative pop vocal melodies combined with the raw attitude of The White Stripes era.
DARC
DARC formed in August 2011 in Edinburgh with the intention of taking electronic dance music to the stage. As a band they have supported the likes of Discopolis and The LaFontaines.
Fake Major
Fake Major’s debut EP, “Have Plenty of Fun” has been delighting bloggers and broadcasters since its release in May. Band members Richard Ferguson and David McGinty have recently called in some friends including members of We Were Promised Jetpacks, Endor, and Theatre Fall to help flesh out a more almighty noise that complements their orchestral, melodic indie-pop songs.
Hector Bizerk
Hector Bizerk is an alternative hip-hop duo comprising the creative, versatile drumming of Audrey Tait and the poetic social commentaries of rapper Louie. Debut album 'Drums.Rap.Yes' received glowing reviews capturing their unique approach to making maximum noise using minimal instrumentation.
Honeyblood
Honeyblood are an all-girl garage rock two piece from Glasgow. Since their birth in early 2012, they have supported acts including Sleigh Bells, Deap Vally, Palma Violets, Mazes and headlined a Vice Launch in London. The girls have recently gigged at Tallinn Music Festival and The Great Escape in Brighton.
Machines In Heaven
Machines in Heaven began in August 2010 when songwriter Graham Crossan was introduced to producer Magic Daddy, aka Greg Hurst. After taking time away from gigging to work on a new live set, and having recruited Robbie Pinkierton and Davey Gwynne into the band, MiH agreed to release with BLM. Robbie has moved onto working in Europe, so the band decided to ask mate Yutani aka Connor Reid to join. The band have returned to gigging, with numerous shows and festivals lined up. MIH are planning to release their debut album late summer.
Michael Cassidy
Michael Cassidy is a singer songwriter from Paisley. Although not easily definable, Michael’s music is best described as alternative folk with an emphasis on melody. Michael built on his already growing reputation in Scotland when he supported Ben Howard on his Every Kingdom UK tour. He has also recently supported Kimbra on her UK tour as well as support slots with the likes of Josh T Pearson, Frightened Rabbit, Amy Macdonald, Admiral Fallow, John Grant & Nathaniel Rateliff for their Glasgow shows.
Poor Things
Consisting of Craig Angus, Richard Stratton and Gavin Redford- the three-piece, originally from Perth, have been playing together for over ten years. The band cite Teenage Fanclub, Pavement and Grandaddy as influences, but their guitar driven alt-indie rock comes flavoured with euphoric moments similar to The Smashing Pumpkins, allied with melodies akin to the likes of Weezer.
Pronto Mama
Pronto Mama are a six-piece progressive indie pop band from Glasgow comprising of Marc Rooney, Michael Griffin, Martin Johnston, Ciaran McEneny, Alex Sharples and Craig McMahon. They draw influence from a plethora of acts including Talking Heads, The Beatles, Frank Zappa and Nirvana. This eclectic mix makes for a sound that transcends boundaries that any audience can relate to. 2013 sees Pronto Mama enter a new chapter in their music, with the permanent addition of the brass section/ multi-instrumentalists Craig McMahon and Alex Sharples. The first release "Rubber" from their new EP demonstrates the importance that the band place on a memorable melody.
Seams
Seams are a Dundee five piece who play dreamy alternative pop. They have supported the likes of The Dykeenies and Admiral Fallow since forming.
Sunshine Social
Sunshine Social is a collective of multi-instrumentalists from Glasgow, offering a melting pot of joyous indie pop that explodes into soul-driven catharsis. They merge and layer a wide range of genre-crossing influences from Arcade Fire, Al Green, Flaming Lips and Frightened Rabbit. The band is currently recording their first full length LP with LA-based producer Jud Mahoney (Michael Jackson and Boys II Men). The unlikely combination of an international soul/R&B producer, and Sunshine Social’s own brand of indie-pop looks set to create an album that fulfils and expands upon the band’s early promise.
The Merrylees
The Merrylees are an Edinburgh based band formed in 2012. Their unique blend of psychedelic western pop has since sold out venues across the UK including Glasgow's King Tut's. Gathering influence from the likes of Bert Jansch, Johnny Cash and Ennio Morricone, they recorded their debut single 'For You' with Bill Ryder-Jones of The Coral in Elevator Studios, Liverpool in January 2013. Following the release of the single, the band have played a series of gigs in Italy and were handpicked to support The Zombies on dates across their UK tour as well as performing sessions for BBC London, Merseyside and Scotland.
Vasa
Vasa are a four-piece instrumental rock band based in Glasgow with members hailing from Perth, Glasgow and Newcastle. Merging the ambience and crushing crescendos of post rock with the rhythmic complexity of math rock, Vasa have been making noise all over Scotland since January 2012.Their first full year together has seen them hone their craft on stages across Scotland.
The Velveteen Saints
Think Hamburg era Beatles - if The Beatles had heard The Clash; The Velveteen Saints are an amalgam of razor sharp fifties, garage rock 'n' roll, big beat and three-part vocals. Formed in their hometown of Glasgow in the summer of 2012, a succession of sold-out DIY gigs have led to the band supporting the likes of Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Peter Hook (Joy Division), Peace and The View.
Waiting For Go
Waiting For Go are a five piece band from Glasgow, together since February 2012. The band blends aspects of indie rock and dance pop to create their energetic sound. In the short time they’ve been together have opened for well-known acts such as King Charles, Hadouken! and Devlin at sold out shows, as well as headlining their own show at The Arches.
