Tennent’s Release Charity Christmas Crackers With Jokes Written By Top Comics

Tennent’s Lager are bringing craic to Christmas with crackers that have jokes written by some of Scotland’s and Northern Ireland’s top comedians.

The Tennent’s Christmas Crackers will support a great cause, with proceeds going towards charities tackling food poverty through the festive period.

The smiles don’t end with brilliant jokes and a good cause, too, because some of these crackers have money-can’t-buy prizes like signed sports merch and a private brewery tour.

Why have we done this? Well we found out that a huge 90% of Scots don’t find Christmas cracker jokes funny, and we weren’t having any of that.

We’ve gathered some of Scotland and Northern Ireland’s top comedic talent including Two Doors Down’s Jonathan Watson and Still Game actor Sanjeev Kohli to write some jokes that will get a chuckle out of everyone – even your sour-faced uncle.

No Eye-Rolling This Year With Our Comedian Written Jokes

We surveyed over 1,500 Scots to find out that only 10% find Christmas cracker jokes funny which might be more tragic than the sorry current state of the jokes themselves.

So, how do you make jokes that’ll get more than an eye-roll? Well we’ve gone to the experts for a bit of help.

We have partnered with Scotland and Northern Ireland’s top comedic talent to create a series of hilarious festive Christmas cracker jokes.

Hazel Alexander, our Senior Brand Manager, said: “Scotland is home to some incredible comedic talent, and what better way to kick off the Christmas dinner celebrations than with a right good laugh – and it seems it’s much needed if our research is anything to go by!

“We are excited to launch our Christmas crackers and help raise money for two incredible charities that offer support to those in need this Christmas.”

With side-splitters from Jonathan Watson, Sanjeev Kohli, Kim Blythe, Diona Doherty, Eleanor Morton, and more, there will be some top-quality Christmas patter.

here is a complete list of comics taking part:

  • Jonathan Watson
  • Bash the Entertainer
  • Sanjeev Kohli
  • Diona Doherty
  • Kim Blythe
  • Mary Flanigan
  • Andy Gleeks
  • Sam Lake
  • Rosco McLelland

Watson Said: “I am chuffed to be fronting this campaign, that involves the very best of comedy talent – all pulling together to help provide a cracker of a Christmas!”

We’re bringing more than just quality lager to the Christmas table this year!

A good laugh supporting a great cause

We’re looking to spread the smiles beyond the dinner table this Christmas with all proceeds from sales donated to charities tackling food poverty and social isolation.

We are working with Well-Fed Scotland and Larder>East to assist families in Scotland and Northern Ireland through food provision and community engagement, ensuring households facing the toughest pressures are able to eat well this Christmas.

Chris Gray, Managing Director at Well-Fed said: “We at Well-Fed are delighted to be a part of Tennent’s Christmas Cracker Campaign, it is just so refreshing and inspiring to see local institutions such as Tennent’s come together with some of Scotland’s brightest comic talent to add a sparkle to Christmas tables up and down the country and at the same time be able to support some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged families during such difficult times, It really shows how as consumers, small intentional decisions can make such a huge difference!”

Alli Steen at Larder>East said: “It means a lot to us at Larder>East to see humour being used for good. These crackers will relieve stress and worry in households under pressure in Belfast this Christmas, helping everyone around the table laugh a little easier. It shows what’s possible when business, creatives and local organisations pull together!”

In For A Chance To Win Money-Can’t-Buy Prizes

As part of our research, we found that 56% of Scots found the gifts the most disappointing element of a Christmas cracker.

We’re making sure that won’t happen with our crackers, because unlike the traditional measuring tapes and trinkets that will be quickly forgotten, we have some brilliant prizes.

From goodies like Tennent’s merch and discounts to a chance at nabbing exclusive prizes including signed rugby and football shirts as well as brewery tours, we are upping the bar!
