Believe it or not, 2026 is here which means many will be taking part in Dry January — a full month in which you don’t drink any alcohol.

People take part in the challenge for many different reasons, and generally it’s a great way to reset the year.

It’s also becoming much more accessible as 0 alcohol beer means you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out on the social aspect of popping down to the pub or getting pals over.

What Is Dry January?

The Dry January challenge began in the early 2010s and has become something of a New Year’s staple in a relatively short period of time.

The idea is very simple: Don’t drink any alcoholic beverages during the month of January.

With December having Christmas-nights-out-galore, it’s a great change of pace and a nice achievable goal that can have you ticking off New Year’s Resolutions as early as February.

There are lots of great assets and tips for Dry January available online to guide newbies through the month and provide structure for the challenge.

As a global challenge, aside from the core goal of reducing alcohol intake, there aren’t any formal rules and participants can carry out Dry January in whatever way works best for them.

The New And Improved Tennent’s Zero

Dry January drinks are not strictly off the table, and with Tennent’s zero alcohol lager—aptly named Tennent’s Zero—you can get the crisp taste you love during the challenge.

When we found that 7 in 10 Scots want to drink more alcohol free in the future, the Brewing Team at Wellpark got to work to relaunch our 0.0% lager.

It has been brewed with highland water from Loch Katrine and locally-sourced barley which in combination with the finest hops makes for that iconic Tennent’s taste.

It all adds up to a low-calorie, zero-alcohol beer that you can enjoy during Dry January.
